GridChrono Privacy Policy

GridChrono Privacy Policy

Effective date: 9 August 2026

Last updated: 9 August 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how MDR Engineering Pty Ltd, trading as MDR Engineering (“MDR Engineering”, “we”, “us” or “our”) handles information in connection with the GridChrono mobile application ("GridChrono" or the "App") and privacy or support communications relating to the App.

GridChrono is designed as an offline, multi-driver lap-timing tool. The App does not require an account and does not send session or lap data to MDR Engineering.

1. Who is responsible for this policy

GridChrono is developed and published by:

MDR Engineering Pty Ltd, trading as MDR Engineering ‍

Australia

Website: https://mdrengineering.com.au‍ ‍

Privacy and support contact: support@mdrengineering.com.au

2. Scope

This policy applies to:

- information entered into and stored by GridChrono on a user's device;

- files a user chooses to export from GridChrono; and

- information a person sends directly to MDR Engineering in a support, privacy or other App-related communication.

This policy does not govern the independent practices of Google Play, Android, a device manufacturer, an email provider, a website host, or another application or service selected by the user. Those providers are responsible for their own privacy practices.

3. Information handled by GridChrono on the device

GridChrono may process the following information locally on the user's device:

- session names and dates;

- driver names or nicknames;

- racing numbers and color selections;

- stopwatch state, start times, elapsed times and driver status;

- lap numbers, lap times, total race times, best laps and average laps; and

- archived session history.

A driver name or session name may be personal information if it identifies, or can reasonably identify, an individual. Users control what names they enter and may use initials, nicknames or other non-identifying labels.

This locally stored information is used only to provide timing, calculation, history, recovery, correction and export functions. It is not transmitted to MDR Engineering.

4. Information GridChrono does not collect

The App does not use developer-operated servers and does not include advertising or analytics SDKs. GridChrono does not collect or request:

- account credentials or passwords;

- payment card or banking details;

- precise or approximate location;

- contacts or address books;

- photos, videos, audio or microphone recordings;

- health, biometric or genetic information;

- government identifiers;

- advertising identifiers;

- browsing history;

- private messages; or

- data for behavioral advertising, profiling or automated decision-making.

GridChrono does not sell personal information and does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising or targeted advertising.

5. Device storage and automatic saving

GridChrono uses the App's local device storage to save timing data automatically and restore a session if the App closes or the device restarts.

The Android release is configured to disable automatic backup of GridChrono's application data. MDR Engineering cannot access the App's local storage. Device security, operating-system behavior, device-management software, modified devices and user-installed applications remain outside MDR Engineering's control.

The App's local storage is not intended for confidential, sensitive or safety-critical personal information. Users should avoid entering such information in driver or session names.

6. CSV exports and sharing

GridChrono allows a user to create a comma-separated values (CSV) file containing session and lap information. Export only occurs when the user selects an export action.

The CSV file is created in the App's temporary cache and presented through the operating system's sharing interface. The user chooses the destination, which may include another application, email service, messaging service, cloud-storage service or file location.

MDR Engineering does not choose the destination, receive the exported file or control what the selected destination does with it. Once a user shares or saves an export, the destination provider's terms and privacy policy apply. A temporary export file may remain in the App's cache until it is overwritten, removed by the operating system, cleared through device settings or removed when the App is uninstalled.

Users are responsible for having an appropriate basis or permission to export and disclose information about other people.

7. Support and privacy communications

If a person contacts MDR Engineering, we may receive information they choose to provide, such as:

- name and email address;

- the content of the request;

- attachments or screenshots;

- App version, device model or operating-system details supplied for troubleshooting; and

- our correspondence and resolution notes.

We use this information to respond, provide support, investigate faults, protect the App and our users, maintain business records, and comply with legal obligations.

Where applicable, the legal basis for this processing may be performance of a contract or steps requested before entering a contract, compliance with a legal obligation, consent, or our legitimate interests in supporting and improving GridChrono and protecting our legal rights.

We do not ask users to email full exported session files unless the information is necessary for a support request and the user is authorised to disclose it. Users should remove unnecessary personal information before sending screenshots or files.

8. Google Play, Android and purchases

Google Play and Android may independently process information relating to downloading, licensing, purchasing, device compatibility, security, crash reporting and store usage under Google's own terms and privacy policy.

If GridChrono is sold through Google Play, Google processes payment information. MDR Engineering does not receive full payment-card details. MDR Engineering may receive transaction information needed to verify a purchase, manage distribution, respond to refunds or meet accounting and legal obligations.

Google Play may provide MDR Engineering with aggregated or limited technical reports, such as installation statistics, device compatibility information, crash reports and performance diagnostics. We use this information to maintain App reliability and do not use it to identify individual users.

9. Purposes of handling information

To the extent MDR Engineering handles personal information, we do so for purposes including:

- providing, maintaining and supporting GridChrono;

- responding to questions, privacy requests and complaints;

- troubleshooting errors and improving stability;

- administering purchases, refunds and distribution where applicable;

- preventing fraud, misuse or security incidents;

- establishing, exercising or defending legal claims; and

- complying with taxation, accounting, regulatory, court or other legal requirements.

We do not use GridChrono information for direct marketing.

If this changes, we will update this policy and obtain any permission required by law before the change takes effect.

10. Disclosure and service providers

MDR Engineering does not receive or disclose locally stored GridChrono session data unless a user deliberately sends it to us.

Information sent directly to MDR Engineering may be processed by service providers that support ordinary business operations, such as email hosting, website hosting, file storage, professional advisers and information-security providers. We disclose only information reasonably necessary for the relevant service, legal requirement or protection of rights.

We may disclose information if reasonably necessary to:

- comply with applicable law, a court order or a lawful government request;

- investigate fraud, abuse or a security issue;

- protect the rights, safety or property of users, MDR Engineering or others;

- obtain confidential professional advice; or

- complete a merger, acquisition, restructuring or transfer of the business, subject to appropriate confidentiality and legal safeguards.

We do not sell personal information.

11. Overseas processing

GridChrono's session and lap information remains on the user's device unless the user exports or shares it.

Providers used for email, website hosting, Google Play distribution or other business operations may process limited information in Australia or other countries where they or their subcontractors operate. Privacy laws in those countries may differ from Australian law. Where required, MDR Engineering will take reasonable steps or use appropriate safeguards for overseas disclosures.

Because users choose the destination for CSV exports, MDR Engineering cannot identify or control the countries in which a selected destination processes an exported file.

12. Retention

Information stored in GridChrono

Session and lap information remains on the device until the user:

- resets or removes a driver;

- deletes an archived session;

- clears GridChrono's application storage in device settings; or

- uninstalls the App.

MDR Engineering cannot remotely retrieve or delete locally stored data.

Information sent to MDR Engineering

Support and privacy correspondence is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to resolve the request, maintain appropriate business and security records, comply with legal, accounting or taxation requirements, and establish or defend legal claims. Information that is no longer reasonably required is deleted, de-identified or securely destroyed where practicable and legally permitted.

13. Security

MDR Engineering uses reasonable administrative and technical measures appropriate to the information we handle. However, no device, storage system, email service or transmission method can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Users are responsible for securing their devices, applying operating-system updates, controlling device access, choosing trustworthy export destinations and protecting exported files.

If we become aware of an eligible or legally notifiable data breach involving information held by MDR Engineering, we will assess and respond to it in accordance with applicable law.

14. Access, correction, deletion and other privacy rights

Users can view, correct and delete locally stored GridChrono information through the App's controls or device settings. Users can obtain a portable copy of timing information through the CSV export function.

For information held by MDR Engineering, a person may contact support@mdrengineering.com.au to request access, correction or deletion, or to exercise another right available under applicable privacy law. Depending on the jurisdiction, these rights may include restriction, objection, portability, withdrawal of consent and a right not to be subject to certain automated decisions.

We may need to verify the requester's identity and authority before acting. Some information may be retained where required or permitted by law. We will not discriminate against a person for exercising an applicable privacy right.

GridChrono does not make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects through automated processing of personal information.

15. Australian privacy enquiries and complaints

Privacy enquiries or complaints should be sent to support@mdrengineering.com.au with enough information for us to understand the issue. We will acknowledge and investigate a complaint within a reasonable period and communicate the outcome where appropriate.

If a person is not satisfied with our response and the Australian Privacy Act 1988 applies, they may be able to complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at https://www.oaic.gov.au/privacy/privacy-complaints.

Individuals in other jurisdictions may also have the right to contact their local privacy or data-protection regulator.

16. Australian privacy enquiries and complaints

GridChrono is a general-purpose motorsport timing tool and is not directed specifically to children. The App does not require an account and does not transmit locally entered information to MDR Engineering.

Children should not send personal information to MDR Engineering without the involvement of a parent or guardian. If a parent or guardian believes a child has sent personal information to us, they may request its deletion at support@mdrengineering.com.au.

17. Third-party links and services

GridChrono may open this Privacy Policy in the user's web browser and may use the operating system's share interface. Third-party websites, applications and services operate independently, and MDR Engineering is not responsible for their content, security or privacy practices. Users should review the destination's terms and privacy policy before sharing information.

18. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes to GridChrono, our business practices, service providers or legal requirements. We will update the date at the top of the policy and publish the current version at:

https://mdrengineering.com.au/gridchrono-privacy-policy

If a change materially affects how MDR Engineering handles personal information, we will provide any additional notice or obtain any consent required by applicable law before applying the change.
